Olympia London’s modern spaces a hit with new shows

26 Aug 2016

Olympia London’s latest figures reveal the venue’s most recently refurbished spaces, Olympia Central and Olympia West, to be more popular than ever.

With a 4% year-on-year utilisation increase, Olympia West has become an increasingly popular venue of choice for those looking for a modern, blank canvas, where they can add their own touch.

During this year’s London Fashion week, the space was transformed into a haven of light and dark as models took to the runway for the Marques Almeida season launch.

The show’s producer, Dorothy Burns explained, “For the designers, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, it’s so important to have an inclusive show where they are surrounded by friends, family and family of colleagues, it’s so hard to find a suitably large venue in central London, which is why Olympia London was so appealing.”

“The flexibility of the space enabled full creativity. We were able to play with lighting and scale, and use negative spaces to create a true focal point around our unique figure 8 catwalk.”

Further demonstrating its versatility, Enterprise Live called Olympia West home that same week, providing publicans with everything they needed to drive business and build success. The show saw the space become a hotspot for education and information with the inclusion of an exhibition area and a theatre for guest speakers.

Beautycon—the world’s premiere fashion, beauty and lifestyle destination for fans, brands and creators— will be returning to Olympia West this December, following its European debut in the space last year and Spin London, the number one road and urban cycle show, will be welcomed for the first time in early 2016.

The 15% year-on-year increase in utilisation for Olympia Central has been a result of several exciting new shows.

The Music Education Show, which took place at Olympia London for the first time this February made use of everything Olympia Central has to offer with exhibition space, workshops and a large-scale conference programme. As did the Muslim Lifestyle Show, who used the space to stage exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and fashion shows for their inaugural event—welcoming more than 5,000 visitors.

Head of Sales at Olympia London, Nick Graham said, “The increased popularity of our two mid-size spaces, Olympia Central and Olympia West, is a result of their flexibility and also the expertise of our team, who have the ability to help young, new and up and coming organisers tailor and grow their shows. It has been a joy to see so many shows thrive within the venue this year and we look forward to watching them continue to do so.”
