Darren Barker reignited his World title ambitions with a brutal four round demolition job on Kerry Hope in the Betfair ‘Christmas Cracker’ at the London Olympia on Saturday night (8 December).
Barker was boxing for the first time in 14 months since bravely challenging Sergio Martinez in Atlantic City and against fellow former European champion Hope he dispelled any question that his time out had diminished his talents as he unveiled a spiteful punching Darren Barker to compliment his trademark style and technical ability.
This year EC&O (Earls Court and Olympia) is delighted to be celebrating the tenth anniversary of its Charitable Trust. Olympia Conference Centre’s event management team has secured an outstanding 95% rating from organisers via independent post event research. The exceptional feedback comes just weeks ahead of the conference centre’s re-opening following a multi-million pound refurbishment of the Olympia Two building.
The 2012 ratings acknowledge the team’s responsiveness in planning stages, ability to get things done, availability on site and rapport.
Earls Court and Olympia (EC&O Venues) have become the first exhibition venues to be certified to ISO 20121 - the new international standard for event sustainability.
The highly-anticipated winning design in Olympia’s 125th Anniversary art competition has been unveiled. The piece - by Winchester-based graphic designer Paul Hicks - was regarded the unanimous winner by a panel of judges that included artists Rob Ryan and Sanna Annukka, as well as art luminary Paul Stolper and branding agency Form. Paul’s piece forms the fourth in a series that includes commissioned commemorative designs by Peter Blake, Rob Ryan and Sanna Annukka.
EC&O Venues has launched a free iPhone app that offers visitors, exhibitors and organisers a definitive guide to visiting the venues. This comes at a time when the performance of its digital channels is reaching new heights.
Users of the app can create their own event calendar, find local restaurants, bars and accommodation, and view floor plans. Unique features set it apart from other venue apps; these include a password-protected organiser section, comprehensive social media integration and panoramic images of the venues.
