New career development zone at Marketing Week Live delivers free expert advice to marketing professionals

22 May 2013

A newly launched Career Development Zone at Marketing Week Live this June will see a range of marketing experts on hand to give professional marketers valuable advice as well as the knowledge and tools to achieve professional development goals.

Valuable resources available for free in the Career Development Zone include workshops and one-to-one advice sessions with sector experts including Econsultancy; the Chartered Institute of Marketing, CIM; the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, CIPR; the Public Relations Consultants Association, PRCA, and MMC Learning.

“Demands on marketers have never been greater, and it’s such a challenge just to keep up with the latest innovations, trends and practices,” comments Paul MacDonald, director of Marketing Week Live.  “But more than this, marketers are hugely ambitious so as well as helping marketers keep on top of the changing industry, we wanted to give them the opportunity to develop their own skills and knowledge to help them take that all important next step in their career.”

The fundamentals of great marketing don’t change and throughout their careers competent marketers will all be aiming to achieve a balanced focus on flair, agility, consumer insight and execution. However, as roles shift and the consumer landscape develops, savvy marketers take responsibility of their own career success. With digital such an important area of focus for marketers, Econsultancy’s dynamic digital skills assessor tool will be available in the Career Development Zone helping people identify areas where they may need to improve. The digital skills assessor app will give people the opportunity to assess their skills in six areas of digital - display marketing, mobile marketing, SEO, social media, email marketing and web analytics - and benchmark against peers.

Another example of Career Development Zone resources available to marketers at the show in June is the Marketing Strategy Clinic, run by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and aimed at helping marketers review their marketing strategy and to consider the options that will drive growth.
“As organisations continue to struggle in tough market conditions, this need to focus on strategy, rather than tactics, is essential if companies wish to improve their competitive advantage,” comments Anne Godfrey, chief executive of the CIM.

Taking place at Olympia London on 26th and 27th June, Marketing Week Live 2013 continues to deliver on its promise as the premier show for marketing within Europe, providing the marketing community with a cutting-edge resource of ideas and inspiration.
