Olympia London invites local schoolchildren to learn and explore
Olympia London was delighted to welcome schoolchildren from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Hammersmith, to learn more about the venue and its work. Thirty pupils from year six (ten and eleven years) came to gain an insight into work behind the scenes of events as well as to enjoy a tour of shows taking place; Allergy & Free From, V Show and Love Natural Love Organic on Friday 3 July.
Olympia London’s conference co-ordinator and event planner, Demi Grundy, gave a brief educational talk to the children at the Conference Centre. Pupils had to guess Olympia London’s age and were introduced to all the various roles that help make events happen.
Mr Declan Gane, teacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary, who had previously worked in the events sector for more than 25 years himself, said: “The pupils really enjoyed their visit to Olympia London. It’s a chance for them to gain an insight into the exciting exhibitions and events industry and to explore their local venue, which many have seen but never actually been into. Demi gave an excellent behind the scenes talk and the tours afterwards with the event managers were great.”
