Olympia's Conference Centre team receives 95% rating ahead of re-opening in September

Olympia Conference Centre’s event management team has secured an outstanding 95% rating from organisers via independent post event research.  The exceptional feedback comes just weeks ahead of the conference centre’s re-opening following a multi-million pound refurbishment of the Olympia Two building.

The 2012 ratings acknowledge the team’s responsiveness in planning stages, ability to get things done, availability on site and rapport.

Gillian Kiamil, Olympia’s interim deputy halls director said: “Our strategy is driven by a desire to maintain our industry-leading customer service so it’s extremely encouraging to receive such positive client feedback. It’s an exciting time for both Olympia and our conference business so we’re looking forward to building on such positive foundations once the venue re-opens in September.”

The OCC continues to receive outstanding feedback from organisers of its varied calendar of events. The Business Continuity Institute, organiser of BCM World Conference & Exhibition (www.bcm2012.com) found that the venue offered a first class option. Its head of events, Lucy Burns said: "In a recent survey, exhibitors expressed their wish to keep the conference in London. With a central location and flexible spaces, Olympia Conference Centre is a great fit for our event. We are excited about the redevelopment which will provide the capacity for more streams and use of an extra floor should the event grow in years to come."

Similarly the organiser of London Bass Guitar Show, which took place in March, has highlighted its positive experience at the OCC. The show’s director Steve Harvey said “I very much enjoy working with Olympia.  Our account manager is excellent and I get the feeling she is busy on our behalf behind the scenes.  We have a formula with the Olympia team now that just works for every event.  It's very slick.”

The schedule of works taking place at Olympia Two are due for completion next month and include:                   

  • Enhancing the facilities in the conference centre on the third floor by adding retractable walls to the East Hall. This will offer greater flexibility to conference organisers by providing versatile space for smaller breakout sessions.
  • Refurbishment of Level One and infilling the atrium on Level Two. The existing escalators and stairs between these floors will be removed to produce more effective exhibition space.
  • Reconfiguration of the ground floor space to create a large traffic marshalling area within the building to help improve the working environment for organisers. This will also improve traffic conditions for local residents by taking more vehicles off the surrounding roads.

The improvement works follow the opening, late last year, of the newly redeveloped West Hall. The new two-storey, 97,000 square feet exhibition facility enjoys new links to the Grand Hall and Olympia Two behind a restored façade, making Olympia more flexible and interconnected.
