Walker Stalker Con a hit in European debut
Olympia London has today announced the success of London’s first ever Walker Stalker Con, with 16,000 fans of the hit series, The Walking Dead, attending across 20th & 21st February.
Visitors were able to immerse themselves into the world of ‘walkers’, with access to exclusive panel sessions, photo opportunities and meet and greets with the show’s creators and staring cast—including Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, Alanna Masterson, Alexandra Breckenridge and Chandler Riggs.
Walker Stalker Con Organiser, James Frazier said, “FanFest.com's Walker Stalker Con, the leading zombie and horror con in the United States, brought the event to London in hopes of establishing a small event to build off of for future years. London and its attendees blew away those expectations by selling out Olympia Grand. We look forward to returning for years to come, providing attendees with access to their favourite actors and talent! We can't thank London enough for its support!”
Originating as a crowd-funded event, James and a friend used their zombie-themed podcast as a platform to initiate a Kickstarter campaign, with the hopes to create an event ‘for the fans, by the fans’. Four years on and following huge success across the US, it was decided that Walker Stalker Con would make its international debut at Olympia London in 2016—with tickets for the highly anticipated event selling out 6 months prior.
Olympia London Venue Director, Gillian Kiamil said, “There’s nothing we love more than seeing our shows thrive, and it was a huge pleasure to assist James and his team in bringing Walker Stalker Con to Olympia London and Europe for the first time.”
It was fantastic to see fans in the UK demonstrate the same passion and dedication that has made Walker Stalker Con so popular in the USA—it could only be described as a phenomenon and it was incredible to be a part of.”
