‘Festival of Fashion’ to reveal Pantone colour trend at Olympia London

Pure London, the UK's leading trade fashion buying event, has teamed up with Pantone Color Institute to reveal the overarching theme that will drive its Pantoneview Colour Planner SS20 forecast; and it’s all taking place at Olympia London from 21-23 July.

The ‘Festival of Fashion’ offers buyers from the UK, international independents, multiples, department stores, e-tailers and mail order, the opportunity to discover collections launching for the season ahead, attend catwalk shows and hear from peers and industry experts in valuable seminars and workshops.

Stepping into Spring/Summer 2020, the event is collaborating with industry-recognised leading colour authority, Pantone Color Institute; and will showcase global trends for the year ahead.

Pantone Color of the Year’s selection process entails thoughtful consideration and trend analysis; and is the culmination of a macro-level colour trend forecasting which Pantone Color Institute™ conducts year-round to inform this selection in conjuction with other professional trend forecasting products.

To arrive at the result each year, a global team of experts combs the world looking for new colour influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production; art collections and new artists; fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations; as well as new lifestyles, playstyles and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures and effects that impact colour; relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events capturing worldwide attention.

The tone selected to be a Pantone Color of the Year is a hue that can communicate the message which best reflects what is happening in global culture at a specific moment in time; a colour that crosses all areas of design serving as an expression of a mood and an attitude; a colour that reflects what people are looking for.

As a leading authority, both in the fashion industry and creative world as a whole, Pure London has stated it is “excited” that Pantone will be informing colour-themed catwalk scenes on its main stage. The event brings together a community of over 700 women's and menswear brands and designers offering ready to wear, premium and trend-led collections; footwear, accessories, athleisure, childrenswear; and a host of ethical & sustainable fashion and accessories under the Pure Conscious banner.

Visitors will also be treated to three days of insightful, educational and inspiring content with keynote talks from industry leaders, experts and change-makers.
