Over 100 handpicked designers and brands will bring Africa inspired fashion to Olympia London, transforming Olympia London for a second year into the African fashion capital of Europe with runway and exhibition space. Last year brought the highest visitors on record per day, at 8,000 visitors in total. This year, more content and catwalk shows are expected to entice more fashion forward visitors from Friday 7 to Saturday 8 August.
Visitors will be able to browse and buy from unique outlets. New exhibitors this year include The South Africa’s KZN Fashion Council, a 20-strong delegation of South Africa’s best designers, who make their debut in a themed pavilion with accompanying catwalk.
Daily runway shows at the AFWL catwalk once again showcase the work of new and emerging designers’ creations inspired by the rich culture of Africa. Mary Martin, winner of the Mercedes Benz Best Designer in Africa and Congolese designer, Innocent Messy, both make their debuts with designs on the runway.
Launched in 2011 by entrepreneur Ronke Ademiluyi, the event moved venues in East London each year until settling on Olympia London in the heart of West London. The event has quickly grown to become Europe's largest catwalk event of African and African-inspired design.
Ronke Ademiluyi, founder and organiser of AFWL, said: “Africa Fashion Week London is at the forefront of capturing the surge of the African inspired trends in the fashion industry. Our annual event aims to celebrate the work of African and African inspired designers in the UK and worldwide. We were delighted with the success of the show at Olympia London last year and we are back to expand and develop the format in the space for 2015.”
Africa Fashion Week London 2015 is held at London Olympia West on 7th August and 8th August 2015.
