20,000 fans are set to join world-renowned Drag Kings and Queens at DragWorld, Europe’s first ever European Drag convention, taking place at Olympia London on 26th and 27th August.
Attendees can expect appearances from RuPaul’s Drag Race fan favourites including judge Michelle Visage, Alaska and Adore Delano. Drag favourites BibleGirl, Lisa Limbaugh, Rubber Child and talk show host Hey Qween will be hosting the “gayest TV show ever” live on stage. Fans will also be treated to meet and greets, live panel discussions, Q&As and hair and make-up tutorials.
Nathan Stone, Creative Director of event organiser MJR Group said: ‘DragWorld promises fans an incredible experience with the chance to meet and learn from some of the best Queens in the business. We encourage visitors to don their best drag-inspired get-up for this fun and fabulous event."
London is home to one of the largest LGBTQI communities in the world and has a long history of championing Drag artists. Famous Drag nights such as Sink the Pink have gone from strength to strength since their inception whilst drag queens such as Jonny Woo and John Sizzle have dramatically inspired and changed the drag community over the last 15 years.
Pride in London festival this year featured more than 60 events, with members of the LGBTQI community from all over the world coming to London to enjoy its celebrations. DragWorld’s decision to come to London in its inaugural year cements London’s standing as the world’s Drag capital.
Amy Lamé, Night Czar, said: “London is one of the most LGBT+ friendly cities in the world. Here, you can express yourself freely and be whoever you want to be. London is open to all people – regardless of background, religion, race, gender, disability, age or sexuality.
“I’m so happy that DragWorld is coming to the capital this weekend. If you’re visiting the city, I hope you get the chance to experience London’s fabulous LGBT+ scene, check out some of our finest drag performers and see why the capital is seen as an international beacon of diversity.”
Nigel Nathan, Managing Director of Olympia London said: “We are thrilled to host Europe’s first Drag convention. We look forward to welcoming people from all backgrounds to Olympia London for what promises to be a truly remarkable event.”
