Jude Law comes to life in Olympia London thanks to famed sculptor, Michael Murphy

To celebrate their thrilling new series, The Young Pope, Sky Atlantic commissioned famed sculptor to craft a larger than life piece, titled Saint - Sinner - Pope – Man, in Olympia London; featuring Jude Law, who stars as Pius XIII.

Murphy, best known for his works Identity Crisis and Electoral Divide, spent 8 hours assembling his 8ftx6ft masterpiece, made from 100 hanging aluminium crucifixes and weighing 250lbs.

Michael Murphy commented: “I’ve been waiting years for the right opportunity to employ this four-sided illusion technique. When tasked by Sky with the portrayal of the dynamic character of Jude Law’s Lenny Belardo in The Young Pope, I knew this was the moment I had been waiting for.”

Zai Bennett, director of Sky Atlantic, said: “What an incredible way to celebrate the launch of The Young Pope this week on Sky Atlantic. In this work, Michael Murphy has perfectly captured the different sides of Lenny Belardo, played exceptionally by Jude Law.”

A 360 degree view of the sculpture was released by Sky Atlantic this morning in preparation of the series’ debut, which takes place on October 27th.

Olympia London has seven connected spaces, the newest of which is Olympia West, where the sculpture was assembled. This modern space is fast becoming a venue of choice for those looking for a contemporary, blank canvas, where they can add their own touch.
