New partnerships with renowned luxury brands and a greater emphasis on visitor experience helped make this year’s Luxury Travel Fair an absolute success. Clarion Events reports that more discerning buyers than ever attended the ninth edition of this year’s show, which ran alongside Spirit of Christmas Fair at Olympia London from 6 to 9 November, thanks to a higher number of targeted invitations and a richer programme of content.
Knight Frank joined returning partners, Coutts Bank and Ushvani day spa as the show’s brand new partner for 2014. The independent consultancy operating in key wealth hubs and cities around the world was able to offer its premium clients Gold VIP tickets to Luxury Travel Fair, which included two glasses of Louis Roederer champagne, valet parking and free entry into Spirit of Christmas Fair. Clivedon House and Chewton Glen were the exclusive country estates that joined as new contra partnerships. Each partner had an allocation of Gold VIP tickets to give to clients, thus growing and building Clarion’s portfolio of relevant high-net-worth visitor contacts for the show.
Clarion also focused on building stronger experiential content this year, with more personal experiences of luxury travel delivered straight from the horse’s mouth of experts and some carefully chosen famous faces. Brian Blessed presented from his experience of conquering Everest three times, while whiskey expert, Charles Maclean spoke of the opportunities of trying unique whiskies via his company MacLean & Bruce, which runs exclusive tastings in remote Scottish castles. The speaker sessions which ran over the four days on the Meet the Experts Theatre with Celebrity Cruises was complemented by returning luxurious features of the show, Ushvani day spa, the Louis Roederer Champagne Bar and the Mosimann’s Winter Restaurant. These elements delivered a luxury environment and experience amenable to soaking up the adventurous and luxurious opportunities of travel. Bespoke luxury tour operators and first-class concierge companies were amongst exhibitors on hand to explain unique travel options.
